Cosimo Filippini’s project stems from a series of photographs taken over a ten-year period of the water surfaces of several Swiss lakes, captured under various lighting conditions and presented as a sequence of windows that open the exhibition space onto a reflected landscape. The images construct a sort of cartography of the water’s variations and are rendered in works that transform photography into a medium that engages in dialogue with painting and architectural space. The installation, playing with frames, panels, and window shapes, creates a short circuit between interior and exterior, presence and abstraction.
